I just put a new bearing in on a 92 hatch and when i was bolting everything up i tried torking down on this bolt on the backside of the caliper it goes against a rubber boot. It is stripped so it wouldnt tighten so i drive with it. and all of a sudden the brake makes little grinding/squeeking noises then it goes away and comes back whenever it wants to so i dont know what to do . any help appreciated.what does that bolt do.

 

If I recall correctly, thats one of 2 bolts that holds the caliper itself on the hub. You may want to get that replaced asap.

 

That's the bolt that helps to hold your caliper down in place. I would get it replaced either way, but in all honesty I had one the one bottom bolt broke without realizing it, so who knows how long it was like that.
