in the market: ITR or BMW 328is??
i sold my GSR a while back and am in dire need for something else. i originally wanted an E36 ///M3, but realized that i couldn't afford one with the miles i was looking for.
i am looking between a 328 or an ITR. the car will be a daily driver and also autoxer and some track events here and there. i know in Dstock the ITR ownz, but if you put an LSD in the 328.....bye bye ITR. (so i have heard). both cars will be kept in (relatively) stock form (with the 328 i will put in the 3.23 LSD for sure).
i know this is a decision i have to make myself, but i would appreciate your opinions.

are you positive? 328 has about the same horsepower and more torque, plus its RWD.
im sure some of you guys have seen both on track.....which typically does better?

And it also weighs 600+ lbs more with an open diff.
I own a 325 and an ITR. The ITR is faster and easier to drive, no question.

At speed...
One of my freinds picked up a very clean 97 328is during the summer and he always thought that he would beat me from 20-70 ... Yeah I left him in the dust. Anyway, If you want a BMW then go for it. If you want a ITR go for it, but remember ITRs are highly sought after by the scum who steals cars.
It's your money, your choice...

I dont get it.

I dont get it.
A nice bmw cruising around is easier to drive then a R, softer suspension, more refined...
A R at speed such as HPDEs will be easier then a soft suspensioned BMW.
Hence "at speed"

ITR.......purely subjective, i think a 328 can wait til later. i took the dive into a m3 and dont regret it. need deep pockets for bmw's though. i do miss the ITR though, complete package for an awesome driving experience.

E30 M3 > E36 M3
IMHO you should be deciding between an E30 M3 and the ITR not a 328, they seem to be more similar caRs

They're not that much more expensive to maintain than a honda - and you can buy a nice m3 for $12-$15k. Remember, the E36 cars are 10 years old now - they will need a bit of work, but they're fairly easy to work on.

my best friend has a 328is, and i have an R. We've both driven each others cars, and we agree the R is faster. The 328 is much more luxurious and comfortable, and RWD owns. You dont really have to worry about theft with the BMW either, so thats a big plus. I'd say get the BMW.
edit: chicks dig his car like crazy, if that matters to you

My family has ownded BMW's all my life. There's nothing like the drive of a Beamer. But an ITR is the total package. Plus Beamers arent that fast, certainly not out of the whole as is my experience, i remember punking a 330i in my GSR this past summer, and he started with me. It ended with his gf being embarassed, but hey, at least they looked good in that hunk of wood.

The E30 M3 is in fact a better car than a 328 but it will be much harder to find a good example, you'll pay out the nose for parts, and you will probably pay out the nose to get a good one in the first place. On the bonus side though you won't have to worry about your E30 M3 getting stolen, a HUGE concern if you get the ITR. So much so that I wouldn't drive one daily.

That's exactly what I was thinking. But they are so hard to find.
