A grinder is faster. Get a bigger grinder, or maybe yours is just a crappy one.

That sander will only **** you off. 1/3hp is worthless. I bought one of the 1hp ones, and am considering putting a 3hp motor on it.

you need more than one tool for different situations. I have a 4.5" angle grinder with a coarse 1/4" disc, that removes a lot of material fast. I have a few die grinders with single and double cut carbide bits. these cut fast and the single cuts leave a pretty smooth finish. A flexible sanding disc on your grinder is good for smoothing surfaces and shaping.

I cant really think of an application where a 4" grinder and a belt sander would do the same thing so im a little confused as to what your goal is. what are you trying to do exactly?

I have about the same stuff Bailhatch has, but just recently got a belt sander. The grinder will still get more use than the sander.

i probably have to look into the flexible sanding disc, is it just that plastic thick disk, but you put the sand paper on it?

I got a 1hp, 6x48" belt sander. It's a HF model, and it works ok, but like I said...I'd like to put a 2-3hp motor on it.

i just got that at Sears this weekend. they had it on sale for something like $89 and then if you used your sears card you got another 10% off. it came out to $83 with tax and everything. its basically just like the HF one you mentioned but it has a 2/3hp motor and i would think its built better than a HF one. it might not make someone like Engloid happy since he grinds metal everyday all day but someone that just does it for a hobby then i think it will work great. i havent used it yet so i cant tell u how it works
