Default Oil Pan Gasket replacement

Friend and I need to replace the oil pan gasket soon on my 95 Accord LX - 6 cyl, automatic transmission.

Can someone share tips and instructions on doing the job right? Would appreciate it!

i tried this on my car twice, but i still got a tiny leak, just enough to make the seal around it oily, i even bought the gasket from the dealer....odd

but anyway, try and get a lift, b/c more than likely you will have to disconnect some exhuast parts, and you will need some big *** extensions to get it off, drain all the oil, unscrew the oil pan. there are a good number of screws going all of the way around it. pry the pan off, scrape the old gasket off, clean it with like rubbing alchohol, to make a good seal. let that dry and spray some gasket adhesion foam to it, put the gasket on let it dry and the put it back on the car. start all of the screws firts then tighten them at different spots on the pan so it is even. it should work.

I have to redo mine too. I have a 4 banger 96 manual so i don't know how much different they are. I was pretty cramped under my car with it being jacked up. If you can get a lift then I would do that but its doable with just jacks, just try and get it up as far as it can go safely.

Anybody have an secrets to stop these things from leaking? I didn't put any adhesive stuff on the last one so that was prolly my problem. What is the best adhesive sealant for oilpan gaskets?

ive replaced an oil pan gasket on an older 4 cyliner civic engine, but it was out of the car and upside down on an engine stand. heres what we did: just took the existing pan off, cleaned/scraped off the mating surfaces, reapplied liquid gasket where it was scraped off, laid the gasket in place and put the pan back on. the most important part is not to over tighten, and to tighten in the correct order. if you over tighten, it will leak, and it really doesnt take much at all to over tighten the gasket.
