Default Off Season improvement

C'mon, with the season opener is a week away for the NorCal people and about a month away from SoCal people, it is time to let the cat out of the bag. WHo here made improvement over the off-season?

As for me, you can check the new article just published on our website.

As far as Kenji's car (my team-mate), he decided to concentrate more on driving on his first rookie year.

New comer to H1 this season. Hope to see you at the April Xover event at Button Andrie!

I would not say I made improvements. Just trying to get the car ready!

The only improvement I made was to the body of the car!

after that I had no money to do any of the other "upgrades" I wanted to or planned..

Nice add-ons for 2005 Andrie

My car isn't doing any kind of racing (except a few competitive auto-X), but improvements goes like this :

Autopower 4pts bolt in roll bar
Momo 6 pts camlock harness
11.1 inches front rotor with ITR calipers (Hawk hp+), on a 4x100 hub
Rear disc conversion with Axxis ultimate pads
from 13x5.5 to 15x7 track wheels, will be using Azenis instead of hankook Z2000 this summer.
ITR rear swaybar
Custom subframe reinforcement

Got everything sitting here and waiting for the snow to melt to install all of it

STN_Pat,

will you be stepping up this year and maybe try a few HPDE?

And for Honda Challenge racers who took some sneak peak on those who attended Willow Spings this weekend. What's the word??

Nothing new yet, but I can't wait to fire up the autoclave at Cerritos college composites lab. A little carbon fiber, a little nomex honeycomb, a little epoxy resin, and we'll see if the car can stay on the track. Unfortunately, it won't be completed for the first race at Cal speedway. Look for the adjustable splitter and wing with an airfoil derived from wind turbine technology. Can't wait to test.

Initially I thought the engine position is the culprit. But upon further investigation, I think it is the fault of the axle. Although, the position of the engine doesn't help. I'm confident that the new mounts and the new axle we got from HASPORT will be the solution.

I feel your pain reading on your whole debacle the past few months. I'm glad it is coming along fine. Forecast this weekend is rain. And I don't have rain tires yet

Bring your rain gear Friday!

Well, I went from a coupe to a 'hatch. Building a whole new car & I am not sure if I will make it or not. Still so much work to do & not enough time.

Oh yeah, I got rain tires.

Yes, if all goes as planned. My entire spring break, just about every sat or some sundays if required will be spent trying to complete this project. The wing will be a prototype - i.e. foam, fiberglass, bondo, whatever it takes. The splitter may require a two piece mold due to some draft angel issues. Even some of my classmates want to help. So, I planned to have it finished by then.

Repair the tranny(syncros), popped in a Kaaz while we were in there. Sent the shocks to Koni for a race revalve, and while they were off, changed our spring rates.

My dad got to spend a little time in the car with the new shock setup, but not the lsd wasn't in there yet, so no data on that. But he said the shock helped.

I haven't gotten any wheel time with it since the last round last year. Can't wait to see what it can do. My dad will be racing it Sat and myself on Sun at T-hill this weekend.

I went from a perfectly good, running Miata to the thing in my signature.

Maybe it will run again. It has new wipers! And they work! That's something...

I've done HPDEs (Canadian version) the entire last summer. Only difference is that this summer, I will be organizing 7 local events.

Upgrading the H5 Civic HB has gone well, with new door bars on the driver's side and the X-brace out of the rear and new straight tubes installed. Finishing installing the stainless steel braided brake lines this week, and will be installing the Setrab oil cooler this weekend, as well as getting the tranny back in the car. Lastly, the RoadRaceGear.com front air dam will be installed on Saturday, pretty much finishing everything up with the exception of new decals for the season openner at Lowes Motor Speedway on March 5-6. I can't wait!

I guess most of the HC guys decided to skip WS. I was there both days helping H4Schmitty get thru license school. I think there was one other potential HC car in the licensing class.

There weren't any H1/HU cars running. H4 and the SE-R cup guys put on a good show, but the field was small. Don Mock, Bob Henderson, Gus Heredia, Miguel Escobar made up the H4 field. I think that's everyone. Weather was great and the track was perfect. Overall a very fun, low-key weekend. Would have been nice to see some laps records fall, though.

The ASC stock car guys put on a hell of a show. Sunday's race ran the last half of the race under yellow because of extra time getting a Pro-7 off the track with only three wheels. Spectators in the stands at turn four were relieved of their boredom when the (somewhat frustrated) race leader decided to give the pace truck a little stock-car love in the rear bumper. Officials were less than amused...

There are some good rumors starting about HU cars showing up as early as April. I'll let people spill their own beans. But it looks like there will be at least a couple of cars running dual purpose and dividing their time between HU and Time Attack-type events. The word "boost" has been mentioned more than once, as well.

It's going to be an interesting year.

Dang good stuff andrie hopefully the mounts will lead to a new kit for street applications where the axles won't be such an issue.

Also pushing the engine back will keep more of the exhaust temps out of the engine bay, which isn't a huge problem but welcome I'm sure

and would allow a sizeable hood vent to be added at some time for the radiator

The TL team was quoted in this months honda tuning that there vent reduced coolant temps by 40 degrees.

This hood by GTP who sponsors a couple other guys might do the trick

I will be racing in h4
Unfortunatly the car will not be ready in time for te first race this weekend.
the roll cage was finished this weekend and I just got back from looking at it and it looks great.
all we need to do to get it ready is very little things like kill switch and tow hook etc.
I can't wait to get out there.
I will definitley watch the races this weekend though
good luck to all the nor cal guys
