what else did you unplug when doing the test?did you get the firing order wrong when reinstalling the plug wires?did the car run prior to this?any codes?

Did you do the compression test before or after the dizzy swap? And has it started at all since you've swapped the distributor?

Damn this is not a GM or Ford, you can't put in the distributor 180 degrees off.
Just look at the dizzy and you will realize it. It only goes in one way.

Sorry, I've just read this as being a problem several other times. I've never pulled my dizzy myself. I know where the rotor is mounted is slotted so the rotor only installs one way, but wasnt sure about the cam.
Bah, nevermind, its possible. The end of the cam just has a slot across the entire thing, making it possible to install the distributor 180 degrees out of whack.

it IS possible.even though the keyway is slightly offset, you can do it.it will be a little harder to slide the ditributor all the way in,but if you don't know any better you wouldn't notice it.

i tried putting in the dizzy the other way but it wont go in all the way. the key on the end of the dizzy is offset so i dont think u can put it in backwards.
is there a possibility that it wont start if the timing belt jumped a tooth????
im still gettin spark and fuel but no fire.....this is stressin me out.
help me

one more question before i go to sleep:
how do i adjust the timing belt if it is off? do i just loosen the belt tensioner, line up the crank pulley and cam gear and tighten? what's the 3 teeth method?
TIA

what motor is it??!!?? u say it is a ex... d16z6....?????? well.... maybe un plug batt and retry....
if u sit in the car and turn key to the on position do u hear the fuel pump priming??!!?? also..... do u have any friends with the same car..... grab their dizzy and see if that will work.
last mut not liest... just take off the valve cover and the timing top cover..... crank the engine counter clock wise untill top dead center. if it is a z6.... timing mark in the 7 o'clock position should lign up to the mark on cam gear.. and white mark on the pully should lign up with the arrow on the lower timing belt cover.
