What's the lightest weight for a 1991 Civic Si in full STS trim?

my 5th gen coupe is lighter then that, but not by much. it was 2232lbs last year. just ditching things like strut bars and going to smaller swaybars saved nearly 20lbs. the exhaust and battery combined for 45-50lbs and the seat is slated for this year as well, so another 15lbs at least there. if i did the passenger seat there's another 25lbs. i see a few other places where i could knock another 25-30lbs out of the pig. 5th gen weighing 2150? should be making about 128whp too.
the 89's are down in the low 2020's.

Yes, they can get lighter if you choose components wisely.
The 90-91 will only be 30-35lbs heavier than an equally equipped 89, and all of this weight is on the doors (read: in the middle of the car). 35 lbs is nothing and often drivers weights differ more than that.

I agree. Its not as big of a difference as people make it out to be.
And I'm sure Hollis is pretty much the lightest STS driver/car combo. I'm still around 180 lb and my car is still overweight.

Andy = cone jockey. He needs to stop drinking those low-fat Margaritas.
If the 35 lbs was hanging off of the front bumper I may be worried about the 89 to 90-91 difference, but since the weight is in about the best spot for extra weight, it concerns me very little.

I agree that the STS guys are WAY TOO involved with dropping weight out of the car, but I don't know...the doors seem pretty far away from the CG when you view the car from the front end. I'd wager to say 30 lbs of doors is more important than 30 lbs of beer gut... Just ask Heyward

I'm predicting I'll be under 2040 in AR at the Tour. I was at 2090 with the stock battery, Kosei K1's with Azenis, and the stock passenger seat. I'm now on RPF-1's with shaved Kumho's, passenger seat has been replaced, and I use a motorcycle battery. I'm also changing the exhaust setup to be a little lighter. Time will tell.

Heck, I'm not all that bad. Darrin Disimo is the real cone jockey. In "nationals trim" (he fasts before Nats to lose weight, seriously), he's in the low 120's!! And he even looks like a jockey!

Best quote I ever heard about Darrin...
"If you put Darrin in a small enough box, he'd eventually make light."

I weighed my 91's stock seat sliders at 9lbs a piece, does anyone know the weight of the 89's, I have heard 3lbs. That would make-up 12lbs on the 89's weight difference right there.
My 91 will be set on some good 4 corner scales in the next couple of weeks. I have already removed 144lbs with more to come out. I ordered my Hawker Genesis G13EP battery today, should remove 17lbs over my current battery.
Seats will be next on my list, for comfort, and the weight loss.
Does anyone know how much weight I can lose by swapping out the A/C under dash components with non-A/C pieces?
I figure I will end up near 2040lbs with my 91, the 89's are threatening to go under 2000lbs out here.
I ran my 91 yesterday at the "Q" with my finally arrived Ground Control kit installed, what a difference
It has motivated me to spend more money to get the car even better for the SD Tour. I still have lots of weight to remove and horsepower to gain
Plus I can lose 5lbs off of the driver.

The sliders are not 3 lb, but not sure what they weight. I know the seat/slider combination is 29 lb from my car on my scale.
I think the underdash AC stuff was 10 lb but its been so long since I've removed it I forget.

Reading this thread its not surprising that our Neon is 2 to 3 seconds off of Ryans car. Same drivers, same course, same day.
It still has the A/C, but the airbags and other things are gone. About the only significant weight savings we can get is the A/C at this point.
Its sitting at 2400lbs.
Sure, its got good power and torque and great brakes, but that can't seem to get close to overcoming 350lbs and the better suspension on the Civic.
We could probably get it down to 2325ish if we completely took it out of street service, but it wouldn't matter much. It'd still get killed.
Then there is the Mini Cooper S and Celica GT in G Stock.
Dammit.
I remember not too long ago when the Neon ACR was THE car to have for autocross. Now we can't find a competitive class for it.
Oh well. Things change.

That sounds about right. My car still had AC at the DC Tour and I was about 1.5-2 seconds off Ryan and the other EF Civics.
My 00 Civic Si is 2450lbs with the AC still in the car, stock seats, stock battery and Kosei K1s (14lbs each). I think I can remove about 100 more pounds but that would be it.

I wish you were down here in Atlanta because I would love to drive your car just to compare. I was only about 2 seconds off the EF's when I had mine half prepped, on full tread mx's, and probably around 2550-2600 lb if I had to guess.

Are you guys allowed to mod the brakes? I'm running an EF in SM, and trying to get under the FWD FI weight limit of 1,900 lbs so I can ballast back up to it. Up till this past Saturday, I was running rear discs with an 11.4" upgrade from FastBrakes (yes rear). I switched back to drums with the 86 CRX HF aluminum drums. The switch was 11 lbs off per side (total 22 lbs). And that's entirely unsprung weight.
The drums themselves were 3 lbs lighter per side from the stock EF iron drums (7 lbs) to the HF aluminum drums (4 lbs). The oversize rotors were probably (I didn't weigh them) another pound or 2 heavier than the iron drums, and then there's the lack of the heavy caliper.
Turned out to be a worthwhile change for me. Now I have to decide if I should ditch the 11.75" 2 piece front brakes with 4 piston Superlite calipers. They are only a few ounces heavier than the stock 9.4" setup. Maybe go for something in a 2 piece 10" rotor that'll work with the Superlites.
I think I'll give Brian a call.

14.6.A Cross drilled and/or slotted brake rotors (my emphasis) are permitted, same size and type as standard.
As much as I'd like to make the swap by my read it would be illegal. Any other opinions?

...yet
There's still talk (poop) being flung about regarding changing STS rules to include the current STX brake rules.
Some aluminum calipers would probably drop the Civics solidly below the one ton mark.

I was going to try some higher spring rates but on the front and make the rear sway bar as stiff as possible. I think due to the longer wheelbase on the coupes it causes too much front end dive if you have the higher spring rates in the rear.
I should be at the Atlanta Tour but driving someone else's car.
