well i was just cruzin earlier and my timing belt snapped. i didnt know what happen at first till later.. i tried to start my car couple times and tried to gas it etc.

the question is is my engine messed up?

search for broke timing belt ......7 results. By what ive read so far , by cranking your engine with a broken belt you have just incresed your chances of having some bent valves.. i feel you...

 

Yeah, we cant really tell you if your engine is messed up because sometimes tehy do mess up, and other times they dont. Mine broke once before I started to drive it(my family has had it since brand new) and nothing was messed up at all, but my family was extremely lucky. The only way to know if its broken is if you take it apart and find out yourself... Sorry g.

 

you dont have to take everything apart to find out if you bent valves; a leakdown test will do

 

i changed the belt. and runs great runs better than before ffaster for some reason thanks guys.

 

u should do a compression test to make sure nothing is broken or bent

 

ur lucky u didnt bend or break anything

WTF, how can a car start with a broken timing belt?

Wouldnt as soon as the belt breaks, timing would be knocked outta wack and valves just start ******* throwing down a party on the pistons?

I dont get it

Pistons move.

Valves don't.
