Default Gas door question

So i go to the gas station today to get gas. I lift the lever and i hear the click. I go to the gas door, but it wont open. Only a little bit of the door opened. I head back home and i realize that the hood was not closed. My question is... if the hood is not closed, will the gas door not open?

Your hood release cable is in no way connected to your gas door, however your trunk release cable is connected to the fuel door as they are one cable.

Trunk release? I think the other Integra models had a remote trunk release in certain model years, but the R doesn't.

EDIT: ohh the 97's have one though.

I doubt it. It was above freezing here all day yesterday (as noted here).

temp probably has nothing to do with it. my R did that all the time. i just lifted the level twice and it would open properly.

or maybe its not bolten in right...if it isn't aligned when put back theres a chance of it not opening properly once you pull the latch. of course it wasn't....it was soo nice yesterday...
