Default rim weight & size...

right now I have a set of 17" rims that are roughly 22 lbs.

exibit A)

would it be better to get a set of 16's that weigh 22 lbs, or replace the 17's with some that weigh like 15 lbs?

..your talking abut unsprung weight, like wheels and rotors a major consideration is the distance of the weight from the point of rotation or the center axis. This has a major impact on the moment of inertia, which in turn impacts the rate of acceleration, since a larger torque is applied to a weight which is further away.

It depends on what you want the wheel to do for you. For 1/4mi smaller wheels with larger aspect ratio tires are better. For autox and general handling a larger wheel increases lateral stability. Lighter is always better for a given size.

ps. Sweet ride!

15lb 17s would be better for performance and looks. Do you have any rims in mind?

how much money can you spend? there are quite a few nice light wheels out there.
i think 16inch TE37's in bronze would look tite as hell on that car, plus they are very light as well. what do you think?
or, you can get mugen MF8 or MF10 with a 4x100 conversion. that would be sick.
i've done it on my old prelude and got mad props and better performance.

Default MF10's

Only come in 5*114.3 bolt pattern, so they only fit CTR, ITR and 97+ Preludes.

JDM ITR rims

The calipers and brakes just fit when you use a 3mm spacer

How did you get those wheels, laughin? Those look nice.... 96-spec ITRs (I think).

Also, is that 'HyperFormance' decal off of your 'Lude?

I just saw an ad for them on message board and decided that I had to have them. That is a HYPERformance sticker on the sideskirt. The previous owner put it on and I just haven't had time to take it off. Actually I should probably go to the shop and see how good or bad it is. I don't mind supporting good shops.

Just was there once about 3 years ago and will never go back.... shop owners with bad attitudes can kiss my ace.
