Default Jun stage 3 cams.....

I just hope this isnt a stupid question... I have a friend with Jun stage 3 cams... He has only put 3,000 miles on them and changed his oil twice now with them in... He wants to sell them for $800... I have a 99 B18C type R and told him i would give him $500 plus my cams... Am i ripping myself off or am i getting a good deal? should i say $400 plus my cams or am i pushing it... Please let me know what yall think... thanks alot

That sounds fair.If you get them make sure you upgrade your valve train.

I'd say that's a good deal, those Jun 3 cams are awesome power makers, upgrade your valve springs and retainers with those cams and you'll be laughing..

One more thing... Ive been talking to Inline Pro where ill be getting my work done from there right out side of washingtion DC in springfeild Va. He said that these cams arnt ment for street use so when people Daily Drive them that they have a bigger chance over breaking over time... Is this true and should i worry about them at all????

yeah, I haven't heard of any problems using them as daily drivers either.

As far as how do you know if they are Jun 3's, you did say this guy was your friend right? Is his word not good enough?

Waste of money..
#1 for those who have never heard of any problems...Jun cams have been known to break at the cam gear end of the cam.. Now so do others, BUT the jun 3 is notorius with at least 10 guys here on htec alone having it happen. Including me watching it happen first hand..
#2 The jun 3 profile was copied years ago and now can be bought under another name for half the price.. Its called Skunk stage 2, or blox stage 2..
#3 800 for set of used cams is a waste when you can get a brand new set of compettitors cams which make more power and cost 300.00 less..

i agree with u 100% Tbone. i remember when i bought my cams i didnt know which cams to buy. TODA, JUN, Crower and skunkworks were about the only cams made back then. there was very little info about any of them. skunks cams ate rocker arms so that was a big no no. i chose the JUNs obviously and about a yr later they had a whole bunch of them break. i saw some break into 4 pieces, some into 1 piece etc etc. i was paranoid. then it was "you cant take JUN 3s past 9200 or they will break". well i proved that wrong with the hundreds of 9500+ shifts ive made.

Have you done some toda vs jun cams in your motor T-Bone?

I say go for them, $400 buks to get billet cams that are not chilled is not a bad deal. If he's used them for 3k miles chances are they're not part of the 1st batch that seems to break ...

go for it and get some Toda valvesprings and retainers and adjustable cam gears while you're at it.

I used JUN 3's in our 10 second all motor race car ...

In a stock ITR, I'd recommend the Toda spec A cams ... but since you can get a good deal on the JUN 3 I'd say get them.
