2000 Honda Accord V6 Top Speed Governor
I have a 2000 Honda Accord 3.0L VTEC V6 Sedan. I have installed OBX Racing Headers, custom bent dual 2.5" Exhaust (w/o a catalytic convertor), Jet performance chip, cold air intake, and a ZEX Dry Nitrous Kit (75 shot). This car gets really good low end take off, but in the top end it dies down because of the top speed governor (goverened @ 130mph). This is causing me to be beat in the long run by Mustangs and 'Vettes. Without spending an arm and a leg, how can I rid myself of this speed robbing mechanism? Any help with this would be awesome!
I suppose I'll be the first to say,
Why the hell do feel the need to race at 130+ on public roads?
Personally, I won't help you, and I ask that others don't either. Unless you want to somehow prove that this is all being done at a track... But somehow, I just don't think so.

Have you ever heard of Memphis Motor Sports Park? Well, if not let me fill you in, the track is open to the public on Thursday nights that allows all the racing you could ever want any type of racing be it oval track or drag. So will you help me now, if you can? I have been told that there is nothing I can do (under $2500).
Appoarently a GOD has spoken and wont help you out, wish I knew the answer becuase I sure would help you out, Iwould think there is a chip somewhere that you could replace that would get rid of the govenor. And sounds like fun where is this track at? Love people assuming you are doing something wrong first without even asking.
Well I have already installed a Jet Import Performance Chip and that didn't do anything. Our track is in Memphis Tennessee. Nascar runs Busch Races on it. Our stands won't hold enough people to get Nextel Cup Races.
goverened? If its a 2000 V6, Then unless you swaped it you have an auto. Well 130 I think thats just the max on a 4 speed. Correct me if im wrong. I think you need to swap out the auto for a 6 speed a think the Acura Cl tranny is what you need.
I thought that they were not goverend? I could be wrong but my friend never had a problem getting over 130.. He had a 2001 v6 too... did the chip give you any gains? I heard some one actually lost hp due to a jet chip.. Do you have any dyno's??

I believe all cars are governed now, but more from the standpoint of engine stability rather than legal speed...I think some BMWs have a 180mph limiter.
This must be one hell of a long track if you get up to 130. As long as youre not doing it on the streets...
Hondata won't help, I know that. They dont work with the 6th gen Accord autos.

I have a 2000 accord 3.0, which isn't even running great, pulling several codes, won't stay started after its been driven for however long, and then turned off no less than 20 minutes and no more than an hour. I have no problem getting up to 135, but I ran out of road. My mother had a 1999, 4 cyl model. She had gone at least 125 in it, and also seemed to have plenty more in it.
