Headlights Dim out...Windshield wipers stall
Hey guys...I searched the forum but couldnt get a direct answer...
Basically, I'm driving the prelude, and the headlights dim out 5 minutes into driving. They would come back on about 5-10 minutes later. Then when i use the wipers, they would turn on fine, then it seems there is no power going to them because it stalls in the middle of the windshield. 2 minutes later, they would start up again...
Is this an alternator problem? my battery is less than a year old.
thanks guys!!!

sounds like an alternator problem. do they get power when you rev the engine? if it's the alternator they'll get more power when the engine is revving than at an idle. I would suggest getting this fixed as soon as possible, because soon it will stop charging the battery and your car just won't have electricity.

I dont know if you have any AutoZones around where you live but they test batteries and alternators for free. I think Advance Auto Parts does so as well.

Not too sure though, I bet it is an alternator problem. If your battery was toast, you would have trouble starting the car and it would recharge when the car ran. Go for a new alternator

maxvtec7500: probably so, but i mean they litteraly have an alternator bench mount tester - course you would have to take the alternator out first. but they also have a tester they take out to the car and test with the engine running. I mean its free so the price is right.

yeah i had one of those too, it just would not produce enough current at idle to where it just drained the battery
but if you don't have one, me and the rest that post say ur alternator is bad
