Buddy Club Spec3+ valve lash???
I'm having trouble with the valve lash that Buddy Club recommends for their Spec3+ cams. Yesterday I had to adjust my valve lash to 11 intake 13 exhaust because my engine would stutter and almost die.
BC recommends 7 for the intake and 8 for the exhaust. I know there are a lot of BC3+ owners here so let's hear what your valve lash settings for these cams are.

The engine does run better but I don't understand why 7,8 didn't work for me. I remember reading that when BC released their Spec3's they had the valve lash set at 11,13 and when they released the Spec3+'s they recommended 7,8.

I used to have my engine idle like stock. Then I changed my stock cam gears for a set of BC gears. From that point forward idle has sucked. I know what you're all thinking "The engine is way off on timing". That's what I thought at first. So we took off the plastic cover for the timing belt and set the crankshaft pulley mark with the mark that is directly on the oil pump. Assembled everything back together and the idle just won't settle. It sounds almost exaclty like a rotary engine
BRA BRA BRA BRBRBR BRA BRA BRA... and on.
Most of my friends love how it sounds but I just want a close to stock idle, not something that sounds like a drag only car. Thanks for the help.

ohhhhh ****...you guys notice that the BC cam gears DO NOT have the "up" marks? Hahahaha...well shiat...reset your engine timing again. Make sure the crank position is back to "up". Compare the BC cam gears to the stockers, mark the BC cam gears so they match the stockers as to the up marks. Put everything back on and make sure the timing belt tension is decent. Then...set the INTAKE side's cam timing to +2 advance. Apparently BC screwed up the slotting just a little when they designed those bastards, that's why everyone seems to have such great results with their intake cam timing advanced by 2 degrees. Good luck to you.

i just got reply from buddyclub usa for valve lash specs
"On the inlet is .008 and on the exhaust is .009."
gonna get mine reset top these as set at 7 and 8 at the moment
as for timing guy that fitted mine said he hard time cos he's never used toda gears before. dont know if he was useless or markings are funny on toda gears ?
can havin wrong valve lash be cause of bad idling ?

Whe I installed the BC gears I noticed that they don't have any marks... ANYWHERE. So I took one of the stock ones and aligned them both and then made my own marks. I'll have to double check to see if I didn't screw up
At least I'm not the only one with the bad idle on these cams. Thanks for all the input people. Keep it coming.
