Ive read everywhere people saying so and so's cam gears timing marks are not right. and some of them use 3 allen head screws to adjust.

Im looking for a Accurate timing and like a 5 bolt design that doesnt use allen heads id like for something to be like a 12 point or 6 point head. Something that will not slip. my AEM cam gears like to move alot. about every 2 weeks i got to re adjust them and retorqe them.

yeah but im gonna go with toda for performance but its gonna cost a little bit more.

 

I like my skunk2s never have them loosening (still check though). what do you have agains allen bolts?

because i just dont feel secure with little puny allen bolts a nice 10mm bolt would make me feel better and 1 of my allen bolts is starting to strip out already and thats just from retorqing them

well, those are 6x1mm thread. they should be torqued to no more then 10 lbs/ft, easily attainable with the correct allen head on socket. i have been running the todas for 5 years with ZERO problems.

sounds like youre either torquing them down too tightly or using the wrong allen wrench

 

Nope im torqing them correctly. with the right size allen. torqing to 8 ft lbs as i was told from AEM.

well, i heard good things about Skunk2 and Toda camgears, but never had a chance to try them. i'm broke

 

i had the skunk2's and the st corsa's.

both worked great, i just got the st corsa's b/c of the locking bolt, it made me feel a little bit more secure about not slipping

 

I used to have toda cam gears
They wear very sturdy and more than three bolts which is always a good thing
They also only advanced and retarded 5 degrees which was the main reason why i go them because if for some reason they would have slipped they would have only moved 5 degrees instead of 10 like most other cam gears

Anyway i have a pair of A.P.e 6 bolt adjustible cam gears. I never put them on but does anyone know if there any good or not? I plan on putting them on when i get a thicker head gasket but if there not good for boost then ill switch to something else.

 

i have some skunk2 cam gears for sale and i am local if you are interested and if you are concerned with teh allen head bolts they can be replaced with either a 6 or 12 poing head i did that on another car which was haveing the same problem with his aem ones stripping just find the thread size and length from there
the skunk one have never sliped on me once just getting rid of them cause i need money for a new build i will probably buy them again
