Default New track in midwest!

In Joliet, Illinois to be more specific. The Autobahn Country Club. the track is set to be completed in April, and they already have events scheduled for much of the season. the course is comprised of two smaller courses: the north track is a 9-turn, 1.498 mile course, while the south track is a 15-turn, 2.06 mile course. When combined, the track is 3.531 miles long with 22 turns.

When an organization rents out one of the tracks for an event, the other is usually open to members. But I don't think there are many of us that can shell out the $20,000 for their "initiation" fee. And then there's the $3,000 yearly membership fee...

But hey, if any of you do happen to have tons of money laying around, and need something to do with it, I'd put a membership to good use. It's practically in my
back yard!

Finally, we have a track the turns both right AND left in Joliet. w00t!!

Seriously though, if you want to pay for my initiation fee, PM me.

That is great, makes me wish I was rich. I live in NW Indiana, so it is nice and close. I hope they make it more open to the public, and not as much of a country club. Either that or have some driving schools there.

it used to be that you could relate the racing hobby to golfing....they spend the bucks to join a club, we buy cars....but now its car+club......rather tough to justify. i hope they do it better than beaver run , maybe to the tune of VIR

NASA Midwest Region has already set up couple dates at that track. I would be racing there in MWHC. It should be fun.

Midwestern Council will be running Autobahn twice this year also- once running the one course (north, 1.4 miles) and the other running the other (south?, 2.1mile) course.

Should be fun!!!

The "country club race track" is quiet popular these days. VIR has a similar deal. Most also rent out weekends to clubs like NASA and SCCA.

I don't know about some of the other tracks, but I think Beaverun is pretty good...especially since it's really only half done. Should be better once(if?) they ever get the other course constructed (supposed to start this summer).

Also, I guess the track design is probably somewhat dependent on the physical constraints of the land and the owner's budget.

i think the parking lot is supposed to serve as the paddock.

honestly though, what tracks do you find to be the most entertaining (in the MW/NE/SE regions)? i haven't been to more than 2 of them, and as they say, "knowing is half the battle..."

VIR (north, full, south), Summit (main and shenandoah), Mid-Ohio, Lowe's... and I have not been to Road Atlanta yet, but it does look quite fun from the video I have watched - will be there in march.

CMP and Beaverun are good tracks - and I always have fun there - but I do enjoy the others better
