Default Tranny housing cracked & leaking oil, is clutch fine?

Awhile ago I posted about my tranny problems etc (https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1142712) I'm buying a new transmission but I'm wondering if the clutch and stuff is fine from old one?

The old one will not go into gear when car is on and when off it goes into 1st, 2nd, 4th, and reverse. My theory is it eventually leaked so much oil and I was shifting something broke into place and it's stuck in gear.

hmmm, I thought often when the tranny would go into gear with the car off, but not on, that it was the clutch that was messed up, not the tranny.

edit: reading your first post, just pull the tranny off (since you're replacing it anyway), see what the clutch looks like and go from there.

Edit:

Ok your edited post helps a lot more,
First off your tranny is deffently messed up if you have no 3rd or 5th but you said your replacing that anyhow.

Your clutch is propably messed up as well if it only lets you shift when the engine is turned off. Ussually thats a sign the clutch isent disengaging from the flywheel so its a pressure plate issue more then likey.

When you take the tranny off take the clutch off to and inspect it. If you have oil and what not on it like you said in your original replace it dont take the chance it soaked into the clutch material. But the best way to check this in this case would be by inspection.

If you replace your clutch get a new thro out bearing, pilot bearing, and main oil seal. its a lot easier to replace it now then after the fact. Also a leaking main oil seal could explain the oil leak you were talking about in your orignal post if im remembering right.

Hope i helped....
