Default vtec woes

my vtec isnt working, the reason i know this is because when i drive i take my car to 4800 rpms and i cant seem to hear the difference nor do i feel any sensation when i go up there.
But once i reach 5000-6000 rpms my car bogs , i believe that my vtec isnt comming on and thus making my car run without vtec all the way to 5000-6000 rpms would make it bog, is there a reasonable explanation for this ?

Need more information...

Motor, mods, any kind of vtec controllers added, what ECU, etc etc etc. Can't help a person if you don't know jack about their problem except that they have a problem.

codes?

if its chipped it could be a bad chip, my chip was bad and it was supposed to be good... while it didnt have the proper fuel maps, im thinking it was a LS program or some junk...

you dont run a stock p28 on a ITR motor, it dosent have proper vtec maps for DOHC thats why its running poorly.

Chip it and i will hook you up with an awesome program

Yeah but it is stupid to list a p28 with a type R motor cause that would be the problem(unless it was chipped) you ******* idiot. Your sohc sucks. sell it and Kill yourself. Goodbye

The reason im posting this is because i want to know why my vtec isnt working , not to hear your lame *** talk **** and tell me that my vtec cannot be heard nor felt as much as a dohc(im assuming most of you will tell me this) because that is not the Case , i know that i have a sohc, but the first time i swaped my car , everything ran fine , i felt vtec and i even had a louder sound. i just want my car to run good agian, and i doubt that even with the information about my real engine would actually help you out .You stupid ****.</TD></TR></TABLE>

Ok calm down people. Why don't we just try to help him instead of arguing over something so meaningless.

Is the ecu throwing any error codes? This may sound stupid but do you let the car arm up to operating temp before trying to go into VTEC?

VTEC needs three conditions to activate.

Car must be going over 20 mph or so...VSS sensor
Operating temperature...coolant temp sensor
Oil pressure must be sufficient...oil pressure sensor

they were also asking what motor because sometimes on a sohc you cant really here or feel anything compared to a dohc.i was driving my sister's hatch and i was taking it into vtec and it didnt feel like any thing was happening.

check your ecu code...might be vtec solenoid...does your check engine light come on when vtec is supposed to be engaged?

no codes what so ever, i did the test to check if the solenoid is working and it clicks.could something internal have messed up? i always have operating temp warm and everything. I know that is i have listed the sohc , most of you whould have told me it wasnt working , but considering that i have intake headers and exhaust and a 1800 pound car, im pretty sure i whould be able to heard/ feel it as i USED to be able to(2 weeks ago) , which is why i listed the dohc since i knew that most of the people on here whould tell me that sohc is weak and you cant hear/feel it.

no codes when u turn on your car huh?...but your check engine light does come on with the oil light then turn off when you turn the ignition right? could be that your ecu's faulty...my old pr3 was messed up like that, i'd get a vtec solenoid code and then i'd bog around 7000 rpm...swapped to obd1 p30 ecu, and it runs fine now...try to borrow someone else's p28 and see what happens...any idle fluctuation?

If my ecu was bad then i whould be able to recieve a signal from it right? well im getting a signal from the vtec solenoid from the ecu.So it chouldnt possibly be the ecu?

well, true, but there could be other faults with your ecu..just because you can turn on and run your car, doesn't mean that the ecu is perfect...but i'd suggest borrowing an ecu
