Here's an age old question for car owners. What can I do to my car for not a whole lot of money. Here was my answer!.
Since I bought my teg a bit over a year ago, i've been noticing (more like getting pissed about) the 'bog' that I would get whenever I would start off. It didn't feel like a mechanical problem, but something else. After a bit of research I found out that the motor mounts on my car had seen better days. None of the little rubber arms (I guess you would call them that) were attached whatsoever. After about 30 minutes of research, I found out there were 2 routes for me to go with the repair of my mounts. One option was to replace the whole mounts with OEM style, or, aftermarket polyurethane. Once I checked into this, i found this to be a bit expensive. So with a little more research, I found Energy Suspension Poly Mount inserts for $30-40. I searched through H-T posts, and found that these would solve my problem.
I found out what was involved with the changing of these mounts, and with the whole car jacked up, i figured I would install a shortshifter, with bushings at the same time. I placed an order for the Black Energy Motor mount inserts, a B&M Factory style dual bend shifter, and black energy shifter bushings. I ordered everything from Rob at Robearracing.com for $100 shipped to my door, and patiently waited.
to Rob and Robearracing.
I also installed my Brembo blank rotors, Hawk HPS pads, and goodridge stainless braided lines that i've had for about a year, while the car was in the air. With the new mounts installed, I found the car just goes whenever i press the pedal, and has a bit better throttle response. With the new shifter and bushings installed, the shifting also has a better feel, which i expected anyway, since i had the same setup in a other car i've owned.
So thats the best $100 i've spent in my car... but i figured I could hear more stories if i set the price at $150... lets hear your story!

Another vote for the ITR sway. Make sure you get the BSQ kit or Beaks kit too.

hands down, baby. more power is nice, but these cars handle better than they go, so i stick mostly with the handling department, making just enough power to smush some ricers into the ground. oh yeah, and get from corner to corner.

i don't think there are any "el cheapo" types. but several aftermarket makers use 19mm bars, like Suspension Techniques. theirs might be the same, since it has polyurethane bushings. i don't think there are any available for ITR rear sway. i tried getting Energy Suspension 22mm front sway bar bushings, and they didn't fit the rear since it has a difference bracket.
of course, my opinion on getting the 22mm rear bar as #1 priority only applies if your car has all its maintenance caught up. otherwise, you're neglecting your maintenance, and you're either stupid, a ****, or you just plain don't belong near a car in the first place.

the comptech sway/tie combo works just as good if not better than the ITR sway, its just thats its $300+ where the itr is less and a $100. the price difference probably doesnt justify the performance gain so the itr is a good deal for now
