any honda transmission pros online?
the reason i ask this is because i have a slight problem. i own a 1992 honda accord dx with an automatic tranny that i purchased about 2 months ago. when i got it, i noticed that the tranny kinda hesitated when shifting into second gear, then when it finally engages, it does so kinda rough. first i thought it was just the mounts, but i checked em and look o.k. Then about a month ago, the "D4" light on the speedometer started flashing every time i drive it. any idea what it could be? by the way, the car has 222,000 miles on it and counting. so ive got nothing but respect for it. I need to keep it running, so any and all help is greatly appreciated. thanks.
If you have that kind of mileage on the trans I would suggest a reman unit. Your original trans has had better days and its time for the retirement home
You can try to troubleshoot with electronics but, with the mileage alone...I would do the reman.

i read the error code but i cant tranlate it . i used the jumper wire metnod on the service connector. when i did so, the check engine light stayed on, and the "D4" light blinked 7 times. it would stop, then blink 7 again. what code is this?

Have you ever changed the fluid/filter?
One time one of my jackass friends drained the tranny oil out of his car thinking he was doing an oil change. Then he went ahead and added new oil to the engine wich allready had pleanty in it. LMFAO
Needless to say the car shifted very abruptly and irraticly with no fluid in it. Fluid and a filter is probably less than 40 bucks.

Tranny code 7 is probably shift solenoid B or something useless like that, if you only want the code description. For details of EXACTLY what to check out & how to do it, get your hands on a Helm book for your year.

item 6/8 http://www.hondapartssource.co...ch=no
item 4 http://www.hondapartssource.co...ch=no
Those are for the accord btw. I just found whatever came up first I am sure you can get more competitive prices at autozone or elsewhere online.

Points to shift Solenoid A and if no fault is found then to swapping control unit with known good one. They have filters but are not changed like you think. Only on rebuilds.
