GSR MOTOR SUCKING AIR!
Time to ask the HT members what possibly could be making my motor have this god awful whistling noise! It seems to be sucking right from the throttle body gasket but it has been replaced and bolted down good.... the other thought I had was vaccum hoses but it doesn't seem to be the case. Could my intake manifold gasket cause this type of noise??? Really don't understand anything else please hit me up with any alternatives thanks....
i had that same problem when i had my CAI....my buddy and i had the exact same setup at the time and his didnt do that... i never found out what it was but it never bothered me...im isuing the same head and IM/TB as i did the previous motor but now with a stock air box/arm and i no longer hear it...that might be the cause, the intake
yeah it might be the case dont have the best intake on at the moment lookin to have an arc box soon but thanks for the help BUMP --- Any other ideas that might help!
You can find an intake air leak quickly and easily. I always let the engine idle and using an old oil bottle, poor water--very slowly--- over the intake area. When the water gets sucked into the intake, the engine will stumble.
Where ever the water is poured when the engine stumbles is where the vacuum leak is.

no because it won't be a huge amount
and the whistling is your intake (air filter), well mine is.

i've known of 2 different GSR motors that whistled. both had cai's. but idk if it was the intakes doing it, it isnt a normal air sucking noise, it is a whistle. weird

How does the car run? I remember when I accidentally put my TB gasket in the wrong way, the car struggled at idle. If it seems to run fine, it might just be your intake.
I found that GSR's whistle with stock TB with any intake other than stock, but most with short versions, CAI is actually not that bad compared to short 3" one.
I also found that changing idle screw will change this sound quite a bit.
On the other hand since I am using ITR TB this noise is almost gone, just a hint sometimes and you really have to listen for it...
Anyway my .02
