Don't buy anything from a local parts store, or even Jegs for that matter (sorry, but it's true)
Price, and availability of everything you need can be found here---> http://www.sa-motorsports.com/
They are Standard Abrasives... anyone who ports, should know this place. Good prices, great service. You can also buy 'kits' that you are looking for; but if you're going to be doing more than one head, the kit is not even close to being enough. You can also buy sanding wheels in 50 packs (better price)
But, on top of all the rotary sanding wheels (and misc) that have to be bought, a variety of Carbide grinding tools are also used (speeds up the porting process, and also allows the re-shaping of ports for better flow.
GOODLUCK!
if you need anymore questions on Porting answered, i'm sure you'll get alot of help on here. But try and stray away from people who 'think' they know what they are talking about.
--> ie. I know a freind-of-a-freind-who-knows-some-people-who-know-some-people-that-port.

Yeah i have dremel which would also work just at alot lower rpm..
but for instance, the intake manifold, how do you get way down in there? Nothing seems like it would be long enouph to get in there with

You really don't need to get too deep into porting the intake manifold. All the **** spots are right by the throttle body and lower plenum anyway. There are alot of other spots that can use help too... but you'd have to cut the manifold open for that, and that might be beyond your skill.

This is another good site. http://www.ruffstuff.com
Bill Sweeney, the National Sales Manager for Standard Abrasives sent me this link.
They also have longer carbide burrs for getting into the deep hard to reach spots.

Standard Abrasives also has a porting guide http://www.sa-motorsports.com/diyport.shtm It's for V8 heads but it still has some good info to get you started.
