well, no. you can use the internals of the ys1 in a hydro tranny.
you cannot swap it with an older cable tranny case though

Older being another 92-93 YS1 (ls or gsr).
I don't think you can swap a newer YS1 case with a pre '92 b series cable tranny (ie s1, j1, y1, etc.)

Are you saying I can only swap the internals into a hydro case or a gsr? Is ys1 the code for the 92 gsr? Can I swap it into a jdm b16 case?

Go to http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.org (or net?). Look up the Acura part number for a 92 GSR transmission case. Then look up the part # for a Teg LS with a YS1. If they're the same, swap away.
Just an idea.
I believe the S1/J1 use smaller bearings and syncros, search it has been covered.
