As for the Big Track, it's fun and fast!!! One peev I have about it is that during most situations it's not crash/run off friendly which kills alot of track time. Recovery and clean up can kill a whole session, which sucks!!!! Wouldn't go out on the limb by calling it "world class" or anything like that, but still a good track.
If you're down to travel a little (shouldn't be that far from High Desert) and are willing to spend a little cheese, look into the California Speedway AMA set-up (hosted by Fastrack Riders). The track is mixed with technical turns and speed. It's also super "friendly" with alot of run off room just in case you make a mistake. The people hosting it are very organized which means you can squeeze out plenty of track time.
If you know local drag racing, I would say that Willow Springs is LACR, while Cali Speedway is Pomona

speaking of which, there is an event this weekend with open slots still at Fontana.
