Default Intake Idea

I was reading d16a6 build HMT style. and I saw that he ported out the intake plenum. And I was currious what if you took the runners, opened them out to make it as one Huge runner? Im currious WHY this wouldnt work...

Im still kinda new to the honda thing.

in the end, you still have to divide them into 4, so I'd guess that it would have the effect of shortening the runners drastically and increasing the plenum size, wouldnt it? It might slow down the velocity... but there's only one way to know.

Sounds ******* pointless to me. Why not just switch it over to a carb?

Exactly, having 1 huge runner feeding all the cylinders would cause a dramatic decrease of air speed/velocity. Engines love dense, cold, high velocity air. Thats why some intakes go from 3" to 2 2.5" at the TB. - Darrell
