Going to Be Joining the Type R Club
Already posted on HAN, so those members who are there and have already read this, bare with me.
End of March, 2001 Phoenix Yellow, not sure of the number yet, but will find out. 89K on chassis, original owner used to be a regular customer at my Acura dealership. Decided to change his oil one day and forgot to torque the drain plug so all the oil drained out and blew the motor.
Service advisor at my dealership bought it, put a brand new Acura crate B18C5 motor (and clutch) into the car at the tune of $4,000. He bought the car off the customer for $6000 (a freakin steal), has $10K into it and is looking to sell it for $20,000.
Seeing as I've known him for a year now and we're actually pretty good friends he's letting it go for $15,000. and is still making $5K profit so everyone makes out well.
Car is absolutely mint, nothing at all wrong with it, brand new Acura OEM Type R mats, fully detailed, etc.
I'm putting a $200 deposit down on it tomorrow so he holds onto it until the end of March when I buy it.
Mom is co-signing for me, I've always paid in full with cash on everything so that's a must. She's holding off because she just bought an '05 CR-V SE 4 days ago, going through a divorce, wants to make sure allimony and her entire financial situation is secure.
Anyway looking forward to the Integra, already am browsing for suspension. I want this thing to handle like there's no tomorrow and do a mild NA build.
Anybody with any suggestions on products, PLEASE help me! First time to the Integra camp.
Thanks.

technically you "torque" every single nut/bolt/screw in the world...thats how you fasten them...by applying "torque". likewise, just about everything on your car has a torque specification.
btw - can you cool it with the BOLD thing? ITS ALMOST AS BAD AS PEOPLE WHO TYPE LIKE THIS!!!!
but anyhow, congrats on the new car. like everyone else will tell you, keep it safe.

Joo need to come to the expo as a guest & you'll have a permenant smile etched on your face...http://www.itrca.com/events/expo5.php
You would speed up the learning curve tremendously. BTW - don't change the suspension until you've dome some extensive driving in the car. It's way too easy to screw it up rather than make it better.
Congrats.

Congrats on the R
Just a suggestion, give the stock suspension a chance to show you what it's capable of before you change it out. Stock, the R is very capable. Not to mention you'll appreciate a nice suspension upgrade more if you have a baseline to compare with.

If you are supposedly good friends with this service advisor I'd ask for the cars history through Acura's database and also request All paperwork for the resale, rebuild and whatnot.
Trust no one and make sure it's all what it's supposed to be.
If all works out and you get it, welcome.
If I ever get back up to my parents house in Holderness we should try to set up a summer meet for all the local R's maybe at Lake Winnepesake.

Wow, congrats on the acquisition of a R. This is not really a club because there are no recognized leaders and cabinet members. But I would like to welcome you to the "fellowship."
