dash lights keep turning on please help!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i have a 99 civic hx when i push in my brake my dash ligth turns on until i let go an then it will turn off. what could be the problem? im just confused because it didnt use to do that so somebody please help!!! thanks
I was basically trying to find out if you were experiencing a loss of pressure in the hydraulic system. That may cause the light to come on. Don't PM me, post to your thread so everyone else can help you too.
Dash light? or brake light on the dash ?
If your brake light is coming on there's a problem in your brake system. Easiest to check is fluid level after that your gonna be getting into mechanical problems. Have the brakes been serviced since you've had the car (pads/shoes replaced)?
Do you hear any strange noises when you brake grinding or sqeaking ? Not sure it would cause your dash light to come on or not but are any of your brake/tail lights not working?

You have a short in the electrical somewhere. </TD></TR></TABLE>
Yup. Possibly the brake pedal has worn away the insulation on some wires, causing a short when you push them that turns on the dash lights. Is it just the dash lights, or do exterior lights come on as well? That might help narrow down the wires you need to look at.

Looks like you need to turn yourself upside down and get into that tight *** space between the driver's seat and the pedals with a flashlight. It's a big pain in the *** being in there, we've all done it. Inspect the entire brake pedal and anything attached to it (everything that moves.) Look for wires that are near that assembly that might be making conact when the pedal moves.
check your taillight wiring harnesses as well then. Start at the back and work your way up. If you've had any interior panals off recently for work, recheck those areas first.

Well, then I'd say that you have a short somewhere involving the parking light wiring. I'd check all wiring that is associated with the parking lights. And as said above, check everything that has anything to do with any recent work.
