oil light
Hey guys, Every now and then my oil light comes on. I've managed to pin it down to when the car is not level. For example, going up or down a hill. When it first started happening, I thought the car was asking for an oil change. So I went ahead and changed it. Now the oil light doesn't come on that often like before, but every now and then it does...........it's a 92 accord by the way. Thanks ahead of time...

Are you burning excess oil or do you have an oil leak? Not sure (someone correct me if I'm wrong) but I believe the light comes on when oil levels are low. If it happened when you were sitting on a hill, it's just because the oil has moved "downhill" starving the sensor

I don't know '92 Accords for sure, but it's pretty unusual for that to be oil level. All the oil warning lights I've ever known are for low oil pressure.

The car does not burn or leak oil. I agree with you both that the light comes on for lack of oil to vital components. I'm just trying to get an idea of what might be happening. thanks again.........
You may want to check the sending unit it self. If its clogged or shorting out it can cause the light to turn on for no reason. If your oil level is fine when the light comes on check the oil psi, if that's fine its gonig to be the sending unit it self.
