LS swap or mini-me? which would be better?
i'm not wanting anything extremely fast. i want dependability over speed because i'm a road trip junkie and i do that sort of thing any time i can. i would the car to be pretty quick, but i don't care about having the fastest honda around. my question is would it be in my better interest to put an LS in with basic boltons or mod the 1.5L which has roughly 207k on it. i can get a 30-40k LS swap for about 1500. i figured a gsr head, forged pistons and rods, header, throttle body and exhaust would be good if i got the LS. i just want a really clean car. i'm sure this has been covered before. i'm just a little intoxicated and don't wanna search. i never can make the search work right anyway. also getting impatient as i've been out of a job for a couple months. now i'm wanting ideas cause i'm starting one in a couple days, 20 bucks an hour :D anyway, any thoughts would be appreciated. and remember! i'm a road trip junkie! so don't flame me or i might show up at your door to kick your ***
Do the LS...and build the internals..u can either go all motor with high compression pistons...or do a turbo setup with low compression pistons....either way....the LS motor is a BEAST!!!!!! And if you could get a B16 TRANNY!! and u'll be flying!!!1

The torque on the gsr block isn't actually that much worse then the ls, It just meets max torque at a higher rpm.

Another vote for LS swap, waay better power than mini-me for what you need. DONT get an Si tranny either, since your about road trips, youll want a lower 5th gear.
thanks for the replies. i've always heard the LS is the best swap for what you pay. i wanna do a little modding to it, nothing major and from what i've read the b18 responds well to boltons and stuff
if your into racing, me and my buddy did a Mini Me (y7 block with a z6 head), mods were j's racing replica intake and comptech axel back VS my other buddies 99 LS integra with a generic short ram. Went from 45ish to about 80 and the LS pulled well. I'd say... car and a half or two cars. The mini-me was WAY stronger than the stock y7 before the head. The head swap isn't bad, and IMO is reliable, but if you could get a complete LS motor, I'd go that route. I'd highly consider LS/VTEC if the funds and mechanic skills are there but if not, I'd go LS or boost the mini-me.
