Default Comptech 8.75lbs Chromoly Flywheel Gains...

I just ordered the new Comptech 8.75 lbs chromoly flywheel and am getting it installed Saturday, then I'm heading straight for the dyno. Just wanted to know what kind of wheel hp gains I could expect, if any, on a 3rd gear pull?

Any ideas? Thanks again.

Since you're going to the dyno - why don't you let us know.

My guess is zero whp - torque might go up - it will just rev faster

If it's an inertial dyno, then the power reading will go up, since the lighter flywheel will allow it to accelerate faster. But if you use a brake dyno such as a Clayton, then there will be no difference.

Lightening your flywheel is like lightening your car... if you take out your back seats and spare tire you're not going to see any gains on the dyno, but you car has less weight to move so it's faster.

In the case of rotating mass (like a flywheel), 1lb of rotating mass is ROUGHLY equivalent to 20lb of static weight off of the vehicle.

yes im definitely interested in seeing this plot or atleast hearing from you how different(hopefully better) the car feels. This is one of my next mods for sure, once its time for a new clutch. Also, does anyone know about Clutch Masters 7.5lb flywheel? And, Ive heard that if you go TOO light with the flywheel, you lose lots of jump off the line(torque)...anybody have anything to say about that??

Well I got a 2.0 60' on streets with a gsr and i/h/e in a hatchback w/ a 7lb flywheel... so the jump ain't that bad.

.....well I've seen you mention this on a couple of different occasions, but where did you get that notion? It just doesn't make sense to me.
