Default gsr tranny oil

is it ok if I put 10w30 mobile one synthetetic in my 94 gsr tranny? It had regular fluid in before i drained it and refiled with snthetic. I put it in about 2k ago and have not noticed anything but wanted to know if the synthetic is bad for the tranny with this many miles since i never see anyone running it. Most of u have gm syncromesh but i cant afford that so should i switch it to the pennzoil syncromesh or leave the mobile 1 10w30 in it. thanks

honda mtl is just 10w30 but with special additives for honda synchros.
honda mtl = $4/qt.

Honda MTF works for me

I would NEVER EVER put anything else in my tranny. I've owned 3 honda's for the last 10 years and i know what fluid their transmisson needs and they are adopted to the OEM HONDA MTF!

Uhh... care to elaborate? I don't think we were discussing on whether or not to use any fluid.

Lol, just messing. Yeah I vote for Honda MTF, if you want to get grinds away then use GM Syncromesh.

the only reason i dont like it because if it was used from the dealer than i wouldnt have a problem with it, but i just dont see y someone wouldnt want to use honda mtf. well, i partially do because sooooo many people just trash there gears while "racing" which leads to the grinds. therefore, i dont trash my gears cuz i know that our trannies were made for a commuter car. therefore, i just have more respect for the tranny itself. cuz think about it, is it worth it to trash a gear to beat someone? maybe if the "race" was for 1 thousand dollars i would trash it, but otherwise, i see no point to trash gears...

Honda MTF I have personally used Mobil 1 synthetic with no problems just so you know and yes the transmission was opened and fully inspected after running the fluid through several changes. But, stick to the Honda stuff Your transmission was designed to use it.

why is using synthetic bad???

does it provide too much protection, causing the gears to slip?

synthetic seems to be too thin for honda synchros.

synchromesh in both my gsr and b16 y1 trannies. no complaints here, it actually got rid of my 3rd gear grind in my y1. ive tried redline mtl and honda mtf, synchromesh blows both away.

I've tried Honda MTF, Redline MTL, and GM Synchromesh...here are my views on each:

MTF: Good overall... caused minor grinds, difficult to get into 1st gear
MTL: Smooth like butter for the first week...after it heats up, it sucks! Wouldnt use again.
GM: Same as MTF imo..... lol, might as well go with mtf since its cheaper
