Resonator intall $$ & feedback
What up fellas, I know this might be the wrong forum to ask, but as a lasting CRX owner I turn to you guys for help on this one. Got an acura CL. previous owner says it has a hole in the resonator, Cost of part from dealrship says $50. My question is,, is this something that can be done at a home garage if I buy the part. Ive seen links on removals but not instals. ALso what is you guys taste on going aftermarket on a luxury end car, if I want to keep a rather (low but close to stock sound). Does bigger piping=lower sound??
If the dealership is asking for this new then that sounds like a good deal to me if you want a piece that will fit right in there. I am paying $65 for mine new and it's aftermarket.
Thanks dr_latino999.. just to be clear the $50 does not inlude $30hr labor.. You know and I know that Im looking at paying $80.. overall
i would personally just buy a section of exhaust tubing for like $2-3 bucks and weld it into place.
You can use clamps if you dont have access to a welder.
cliff notes:
cut it out and put a pipe in it's place.

With out the resonator though you will end up higher in the "buzzing bees" side of the sound spectrum which may be acceptable to you, but for the life of everyone who lives around you, and the poor CL keep it sounding good.

Assuming I have a rice can now aren't ya?
I'm assuming this guy has a muffler. He isn't going to notice a **** worht of a difference...It will actually be quiter once it is sealed and all the noise is going through the muffler compared to the exhaust leak w/ the resonator.
Sorry...There aren't of those "buzzing bees" around here.....On my daily driver I am running 2.5" downpipe to a full 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust Nothing else....it isn't even loud and for sure doesn't have this "buzzing bees" sound to it. and on my ls/vtec i am currently working on it's full 3" exhaust (have to wiat for the T4 to get here before I finish the downpipe.

Well anything compared to the leak would be quieter......well, maybe anything. Open header/downpipe might win but that is beyond the point. Friend of mine had an '04 Accord EX and his resonator took a crap on him due to some road debris; we first tried replacing it with a straight pipe (mind you that this is stock exhaust) which until we changed it back to a resonator put the car into buzzing land. Now maybe because it is a V6 the accoustics are different or maybe with the CL you will have better luck, but I advise against straight piping it.
