Well your idle will be off which could cause you to lose gas when idling. I don't think it does anything besides control idle though, correct me if I'm wrong.

It'll throw a code, and not run right.

When you disconnect the IAC it throws your car into "LIMP" (check Engine). When the computer reads that it automatically richens the fuel mixture becasu it doesn't know whats goin on. In turn creating a great deal of loss in gas mileage.

Hahaha, I dunno what all you are talkin about bad MPG, I drove for about a year with the IACV disconnected and my MPG didnt change when I finally got it wired up correctly and I wasnt in limp mode eathier. In fact, my car idled better when it was disconnected.....

But the CEL is super annoying @ night so I fixed it...

Mine fell off while I was driving down the road. I still don't know how, it just felt like a big rock hitting the underside of my car on its way out. It makes a VERY loud sucking noise, and my ecu is so screwed up it didn't throw a code (like it ever does) and just lately my idle started doin the up and down thing. I have no desire to fix it though as my ZC swap is sitting in my friends garage waiting to be put in this weekend.

O and when it starts up it idles like a dump too.

I ghetto riged mine, more of a band-aid, till I got my new one. I put some exhaust tape on the back of the intake and pivoted the IACV while it was still connected to the harness, and disconnected the coolant lines. The ECU kind of "thought" it was there and didnt throw a CEL. Anyways didnt lose the MPG. The only bad thing is when you start it up it revs up to like 3000 rpm and then goes down, in my case it was really loud when I started it up because of my loud exhaust and everyone looks at you .
