Default bypass valve on cold air intake

does it matter if my intake is a solid pipe, without the bypass valve, or should i cut it and get a bypass valve?

Just avoid deep water. 8" or more.

you should be okay. I've driven through the rain with my CAI a few times, but I drive in a low gear just to keep the rpms high

Most people will say that you don't need the bypass valve and in some certain cases you don't but if i where you i would get it to be safe. I do know that it works if you are in SMALL puddles of water, if you get submerged it aight nothing you can do. Add it for safety!!!!

actually, if i remember right...the bypass valve only works when the filter is completely submerged. So it wouldnt work in small puddles, but would work if you're submerged.

either way, i'd get it just for safety.

dont get it unless you live in an area that floods. if you drive hard it will eventually crack from the engine torqueing back and you lose an HP or two anyway.

i have CAI and i cut a hole in my bumper to let in more air. i'm getting a air duct to replace where i cut, and it's a much larger hole. my area doesnt flood or anything, but we do get crazy snow in the winter. you think i should get a bypass valve? if so, what size? i measured my CAI and the circumfrence is 7". i did the formula and according to math laws, the diameter SHOULD be 2.25". i have a b18b....what size is that? i searched, but nothing. LMK your opinions

Wait.. im confused.. Preludes = very low cars.

Why the hell would you be driving in 8" or more of water in a prelude... in TX we get floods all the time.. Thats why i have a truck.

Note to everyone: Dont drive your prelude in a lake.

Waste of money. all show no go.

Besides to put it to use, your car probably would be stuck at that point and drifting around like a dead fish.
