Stuck in D4
I have a 92 Honda Accord LX Coupe. Lately I am guessing because of the weather since it got cold, it might be the cause of the problem. Anyways, here is the problem. Whenever I turn on the car the gear is in 4th. I can't change it or anything. I can still go into 2nd and all but when I give it gas the car takes for ever to accelerate. It seems it just stays in 4th and doesn't bother with the 1 2 3. Any way to fix this?
You need to jumper the service connector and see if you have a code on the trans control unit, it sounds like you have bad solenoids. How long has the light been flashing on the dash?

when you put the shifter to d4, its actually starting from 1st gear and it moves it way up when you drive. Think of it as d4 means it will use all 4gears. d3 it will use only 3 gears..etc..
if you're pressing the gas and nothing is happening, you're tranny is probably bad, or you're low on fluid, or MAYBE you got a loose wire...
