Post 2007 Honda Accord odd transmission problem

My 2007 Honda Accord is experiencing some odd transmission problems. It drives normally but every now and then there seems to be a little jerk in the engine and the car seems to lose almost all the acceleration. The engine light turns on immediately. The car accelerates very very slowly and seems like it doesn't get into the higher gears and revs over 3000 rpms if i try to push it...basically doesnt switch gears. This problem also happens when i'm at hiway speeds. In this case it seems to remain in 4th gear and revs high so i keep it under 100 kms to keep it from reving over 3000 rpms. Now, as soon as i turn the car off and then turn it back on the problem disappears. I have taken it to my mechanic a few times and they say its not a transmission problem but rather something to do with some Air mechanism (they haven't been able to explain it to me). I desperately need someone to help me find a cause for this so i can get it fixed.

Is it k24 cylinder accord or a V6? I had similar symptoms on my 2007 k24, would not rev past 2800 rpms. Turns out a bad VTEC oil pressure sensor for me at least 5 minute job. The sensor cost $75 usd from a honda dealer. Check engine lot was on, went off after replaced the vtec oil pressure sensor and drove like normal. I hear these are common on our cars,

It's a V6. Mind does rev high as much as i want it to but it just doesn't kick into a higher gear. If this problem occurs when I am at low speeds or even when I'm in gear 1 then the car slowly accelerates and i feel sudden jerks indicating the gear is changing but it seems not to want to kick into the 4th/5th gears.

kick down... is a lower gear, not higher.
best take that in and have the transmission looked at.

Have the transmission looked at by a professional, but start thinking about transmission replacement in your future. Is the rest of the car is in good shape?

Yes, the rest of the car seems to be fine. However, one mechanic i have showed this to a few times insists that this is not a transmission issue and that it has to do with some "air" issue. I asked him to tell me the exact part he is referring to but he hasn't been clear on that. What air issue could he be referring to?

I think the "air" is in this guy's head. If the rpms go up, and the car doesn't speed up, the transmission is slipping. Usually by the time the clutches start slipping, it's too late to save it.
