Default I want more torque in '99 EX sedan to get off line fully loaded!

I just bought my girl a '99 EX sedan with 5-speed. I know Honda's don't do gobs of torque! She loves it but it has NO torque as compared to the Saturn with a 8-valve 1.9 SOHC she had before. And when I get in at 216 lbs. and two others in the back and gear on top of that it has to be reved pretty hard to get away from a stop sign. I already put a K&N drop in air filter in it with no real seat of the pants gain. She does not want the sound of a loud intake or exhaust. Is there any way I can get her more torque without making the car louder or going to crazy with mods?

sorry but i dont think your going to get what your looking for without "going crazy with mods".

nothing bad about reving higher to make power thats just how the motor works.

- you could get some really light wheels, lighter flywheel and change out the pullies. car shouldn't be any louder but will be faster.

i say get a supercharger. expensive but simple and will help with the mid range power

The whole exhaust system was just replaced by the PO by Midias. It is cheap junk, is this Apexi system stainless and how much more torque am I going to get?

For what you'll spend on a header and exhaust, http://www.homemadeturbo.com. All the torque you want.

the motor you are working with (d16y8) isnt going to be very torquey without some modifications. maybe look into a greddy turbo kit, apexi turbo kit, edelbrock turbo kit, jackson racing supercharger, or some other complete kit that you could bolt on and go. but if you want to make that motor torquey and stay NA, prepare to spend money and make sacrifices (sound, etc)
