Default tread wear rating

the lower the the tread wear number the faster the tire wears right?...so a 200 rated tire would wear faster than a 300 rated tire right??

Right.

Except that its more accurate if you're comparing within the same tire-company & the same size. For example a 200 tire from brandX might last longer than a 200 tire from brandY.

but 200 wear ratings of two different brands will wear RELIATIVELY close to the same amount

But each tire company has some freedom about how to run the tests.
