Friends I need guidance from you regarding a problem with my car.

When i start my car in the morning (or when the engine is cold) and reacha speed of about 30m/hr i get the check engine led.If i shut off and then start the check engine led goes away.

I took my car to a mechanic and he checked through computer and got EGR valve changed.This this not help.He says i should now change the EGR solenoid.

Please advise me .

if you could tell us what the code is it might help?

 

the code is 12 EGR system

 

so I will assume that your mechanic did a vacuum check?
did he check the EGR valve lift sensor?

what's an egr and what is the code for? sorry jus curious....

 

Exhaust Gas Recirculation : it is a system designed to reduce oxides in the exhaust nitrogen emissions through vacuum lines, valves and solenoids

 

I changed the EGR solenoid and it works fine now.
