Question about smog?
I just bought a 95 GSR. Really clean car that I bought from the 1st owner with 119k. I have all the maintance paper for the car ever since it was purchase in 95. All major work done to it ... i.e. timing belt, clutch, water pump, fuel filter, all flushes up to date. I smog the car today and it didn't pass the 15 mph test
but it pass the 25 mph test. But here is my question. I let my GSR sit in the garage all day today until 4pm. Then I drove it to the smog shop, and it sat for another good 30 mins. When it was my turn the smog tech just started up my car and drove up to test it. Now I was told that it's better to drive your car around to make sure the cat and engine is warn enough and i'll have a better chance if passing smog. Is that true? any suggestion?

I don't know about warming up to pass the smog but I just barely passed with my 96 LS in Sep with 89K... At 15 mph, my HC was 54(61 is maximum) and my NO was 425(467 is maximum). The guy said my cat would probably need to be replaced next time...
Yes the hotter a car is when you smog it the better the reading will be. Get it good and hot and run the **** out of it before you go back. Blow it out on the freeway.

yes, thats true. Drive it before you get it SMOGed to keep the cat HOT. Before this new Dyno SMOG I failed my 95 GSR too when I was buying it, failed the Pre Test. Took the car around a few blocks, came back, tested and passed with flying colors.
