cut off rusted part in rear quarter and weld in used 'piece'
I plan to cut off the 'accord-famous' rear rust part of the quarter panels by the wheel base and weld in new-used small 'replacement'. I read somewhere that there are some places that sell used Accord sectional rear panel pieces (not the whole panel). Does any one of you know where I can find them? My junk yard (MD) is not ideal place as most of these cars have them already rusted.
when i had my 89 acura legend it had rust in the rear, right by the wheel. i basically removed all the rust, put a piece of metal, bent it into shape and put it there. i used a screw or 2 i think (didnt have rivets). then used a bit of bondo to fill it up, sanded it down and put primer on it. overall came out pretty good. dunno where you could get the part you need tho.
your on the right track about welding new metal in there. your best bet is to just find and old fender or hood and make your own panel, it's really not all that hard, assuming you know how to weld and dont warp the **** outa the rest of the panel.
