just hit 70k on my em1... when's a good time to replace???

 

some time soon I think its recomended at 60,000

 

my civic (2000) is suggested at 110,000... with the tune up and all... However, Im thinking I'm gonna do all of that stuff at 100,000... I don't want it to break. But I'm at 80,000 on a auto, that I push way harder than any honda auto should. That engine has been through stop and go like no other.

 

My honda manual says 90,000 miles... I think I replaced my timing belt and water pump a little before that.

 

90K is when dealers recommend tb replacement on your model. 88-91 model civics are supposed to be done every 60K. I just did my gf's 2000 EX at 89K miles, and the belt looked fine (no cracks, frays or anything). I've heard of people getting up to 160K before they break, but i'd stick to every 90K just to be safe.

 

Normal and severe driving and weather conditions also play a factor too....

 

you can also tell by taking the cam gear plastic cover off, 90k is the stock replacement, and ive heard of people going all the way till 120k without replacing but its your call i would replace to honda specs or if you beat on your car i would go a couple thousand miles before honda specs.

 

I was turbocharging my car. I figured a nice little tune up would be a good idea.

nope. the only thing "normal" and "severe" driving impacts is the oil change schedule (3750 miles instead of 7500)

One thing I have learned about cars and forums is never make a broad statement.

For instance Transmission fluid is a maintenance item that changes if its severe or normal. Normal @ 90k and Severe every 30k

Of course if you were ONLY refering to the timing belt, that is correct. Same for normal and severe. Which you most likely were and I just read your reply wrong.
