Tranny fluid change question (Please help! :)
Hey guys - I know this has been covered before, and I have searched, but I am not totally clear on one question

I opened the drain plug, let all fluid drain out.
I opened the "manual transmission fill plug", as seen in the picture.
I took off the fill cap on the top, and I started to fill through the fill cap in the top.
I stopped filling when fluid started coming out of the "manual transmission fill plug" hole.
Is that how far I need to fill it?

I'm kind of surprised it only took 2 quarts, when it is supposed to take 2.9... I let it drain for about 10 minutes, I wonder if I should have let it drain longer.
BTW, the GM Synchromesh FM costs $17/quart at my local dealership, so those of you who paid 14 can take comfort .... or laugh at me o_O

Sweeeeet jesus. I paid $7 per quart.
Well worth it though. Isn't it?

Yeah - I wasn't surprised at all - the cheapest price I can find on a used si tranny is $350 in this damn city, so it stands to reason that everything else automotive would be ridiculously priced.
The important part is not to overfill it. So whatever hole you use to fill the tranny, just make sure to remove the 'real' fill plug so that you know when the fluid level is correct.

Or you can just look at the manual and put in the exact amount that is supposed to be in the tranny.
