Default Tire size question

I am looking to get new rims and tires for my 99 civic ex. I am running h&r sports for lowering springs. I am thinking of gettin 16x7 rims but my question pertains to how wide of a tire can I get before i have to worry about rubbing. Rolling the fenders is also not an option since i don't want to spend the extra money for it. I was thinking of running 215/40/16 but I am not sure if that is pushing it. I don't want to go any lower than 40 for sidewall height due to the bad roads which I travel and I dont' want to dent the rims. Any input would be much appreciated.

205/45 or 205/40 a 215mm tire is pretty wide.

IIRC the 205/45/16 is closer to the stock tire's overall diameter.

Possible, yes. What is the offset of your wheels?

You can rub with a 195mm tire if the offset of your wheels is wrong.

I have a set and there a few other people on here that run 215/45/zr16's.

If you want to run soft suspension and be dumped yu will need a camber kit.

But if you are going to run some high spring rates and have your car lowered 2 inches or less. you should be ok.

Yeah I am at about a 2 inch drop with my h&r sports and I actually have a camber kit so I am looking to go with a 215/40/16 tire with a 40mm offset if possible. If not what offset would I need?

I have a 42 offset. If you want azenis's they only come it 215/45/16 unless the new ones have 215/40.

205/40 are cool, but u will get a bumpier ride. A lot of the people i know that have 16's always get the 205/45. And for some reason, 205/45 are a bit more expensive than 205/40. Go figure...
