well most of you have seen or know about my set up (if not check sig) but i dont have enough money right now for my gator axles but i think i might go to an upcoming event. my question is has anyone luanched hard (didnt hold back at all) with slicks on stock axles?
i had the same question, i wont be making as much power as you, but i was wondering the same thing, launching all out w. slicks on stock axles, b/c i was looking into axles too

It depends on your drivetrain setup,Launching style, how much wear there is on them, your tires/drags etc. Theres too many variables to break it down to a number. Many aftermarket companies give a solid number because they claim their axles being sold have been proven to withstand hard launches in track cars. If you break axles constantly or you are someone that doesn't want to take chances, then consider upgrading. Hope that helps.
kinda OT but...was looking at DSS axles and theres the kind that says "2xx hp with ABS" and some thats like 7xx hp...can i keep ABS with the 700hp axles? i'm kinda liking my ABS but i'd like to upgrade my axles too.
Mine is only a third gen but I broke so many axles I stopped counting.
I was making about 200whp on the motor and 300whp on the spray.
So how strong are stock axles? Not very.
You launch hard at your own risk. 1 in 10 people may break nothing but that will be of very little comfort if you are that one. Calculated risk.

Sit this one out, you'll be glad you did.
Ennis has a funny way of breaking **** anyway.

I have an S with a H22A swap and when I got new axles they had ABS rings or whatever on them. My S doesn't have ABS, will that matter at all? I don't know it there is something seriously wrong with these axles but they make a popping noise if I keep it at low speeds and give it gas.

Most of the time the general consensus has been that most prelude axles are good to about 500whp. I'm daily on 250whp, sometimes go up to 350whp for fun, and I've yet to break any axles. I usually never "launch" though, as I just spin that way and I get better times through a carefully driven 1st.

No problem. I wish cooler heads had prevailed when I was blowing up cars and axles.

Well for an all out boosted app. trying to to pull the best qt. Mile times after market axles are the best as you can abuse them hard enough to pull those real low 1.6 60 fts and maximize your qt. Mile time while doing this and on the other side of the arguement that would not be possible with stock axles as they would snap. Hope i helped ya out a bit.

you wont break stock axles by accident unless your making HUGE power. just dont launch like a fool if you dont have money to blow.. go into the luanch with some load on the gears (to get rid of lash) so they dont slam together. it's just not worth the extra 1-2 tenths for some people
