JDM 1 Piece Retro Write-up
Tools Needed
2 headlights (DUH)
set of projectors, ballasts, ignitors, and bulbs
drill and metal bits
jigsaw or dremel
3" bolts with 3 nuts for each
sheet of steel mine was 24 guage which worked well
wood shims
set of torx (star) bits to take apart the projector
wiring, heatshrink, connectors, relay
1. Heat the oven to 300 degrees and put the headlight in for around 6-8 minutes or until plastic is warm and kinda of flimsy. Now take a screw driver and pry the side closest to the highbeams. You will be able to tell if it is warm enough. Now stick a wood shim along the edge and slowly slide one down on both sides of the headlight and the cover will come off.
2. Take out the stock reflector and take off the 2 mounting brackets, as you will need them later.
3. Take your sheet of steel and and trace the outline of the reflector and go cut that out.
4. measure the distances for the mounting screws from the brackets and drill them out on the new sheet you just cutout. you will ahve to make several notches on the corners like this for the new brackets to work.

5. once you have it all cut and drilled take your projector housing and place it on the sheet of steel like it will be when finished and mark around the housing so you knwo how much of a circle to cut for the bulb housing. Once this is done go cut it out.
6. Now if you have xenon this will not apply to you, if you have bi-xenon like me you will have to make some more cuts to allow for the sheild to properly flip down, you will see what i mean.
7. Intsall the brackets from the old reflectors making sure you put them on the right way and they are as square as possible. If you get one too high or low then it will throw off your rotational alignment. I made my holes for these a bit bigger so I could adjust the projectors after everything was done.
8. Now its time to put everything together put 4 of the 3 inch bolts in so the nut will go on the back side and tighten them down.
9. Put another nut on each bolt and put it about .5-1 inches from the first one. Now put you projector in and place the shrould on it and adjust the nuts until everything is flush and lined up with the front of the bracket, that you made.
10. Put the projector housing on and tighten it down. Your almost done.
11. Place your finished project into the housing and make any necessary cuts to make the new projector housing fit into place. I had to cut out a big square in the back of mine to get them to mount how I wanted.
12. Once everything fits take off the shroud and tape the projector, put the shroud back on and paint the bracket and shroud flat black rustoleum. Matches perfect.
13. Once its dry put it in the headlight housing, head the oven and put it back together.
14. You will want to come up with some way of sealing up the headlight so moisture does not get into there but I have not done this yet. Ive thought of taking a square tuperware and cutting it down and then using silicone to seal it to the headlight.
15. Make your harness. You will find this info on HIDplanet. Do not just wire them directly into your stock wiring system you will fry it, us a harness with a relay.
In order for this project to come out as you expect you have to be creative, I tryed making shrouds out of aluminum for home heating/air systems, little metal flower pots from wally world. In the end I figured out how to use the stock BMW shrouds. Before you do anything just lay everything out and draw a plan in your head (or on paper) before you go hacking anything up and dont be afraid to ask. I wish I had more pictures but I forgot to take them as I was progressing through. If you need more indepth directions let me know and ill help you out im just going off the top of my head here. My AOL is kieffer87 if u need some help.

Actually I did my retro-fit over a year ago. I did take pics, but I lost them (They were on my friend's digi-cam, and his sis deleted them
). My write-up is done actually... I'm just trying to fish for pics that would fit accordingly. I'll send them to a mod when I'm done so that if they allow another write up they could post it up. If not, I'll make a website with it.
Some pics of my retro fit are on this thread (sorry, don't mean to 'thread jack'):
