need a good aluminum welding shop in So Cal?
Need to have my tranny case fixed because it broke where it bolts to the mount. bolt is gonners.
Estimated cost to have an aluminum chunk welded to it, then surface, then tapped?

You could try Valley Head Surface in Northridge. I've had them weld up an aluminum Munci case for me. Ask to speak to Larry (the owner).
They know how to do this sort of thing due to welding up damaged aluminum heads.
