Default gsr block - ls crank and rods and jdm p30 pistons - compression numbers

what i am looking at is what compression will i be at with this setup? will i still be able to rev high with a ls crank or do i need to get it balanced?

i have looked on the board and others for these answers but have not really found any good statements. so i thought i would bring both of these questions into one topic.

crank is fine for reving.... do not rev stock ls rods over 8k.. otherwise the setup you are using should be nice.. i would personally go with forged pistons if you are building it do it all the first time so u dont have much to worry about...

what head are you using?

Crank and rods will be fine over 8K. Use ARP rod bolts(8mm, $35) and you will be fine. The weakest link in the LS bottom end is the rod bolts, not the rods; but you can shotpeen the rods($60) to be extra safe. With this you will be good for 9K!!

Also with a GSR head, you should be around 11.6:1 to possibly 11.8:1 CR. I am at 11.1:1 with P30's in my LS. Hope this helps.

Lightning Motorsports $35 shipped ARP 8mm LS Rod Bolts P/N 208-6001

These will save your *** when spinning high rpms! Also LS rod bearings are bi-metal, so use ACL bearing b/c they are tri-metal, or notch the LS rods to fit GSR bearings(b/c they are turned the other direction) b/c they are tri-metal as well!

Are B16 bearings tri-metal? I thought they were Bi-metal; and a different size.
