does this seem like a good deal for this car? if its as clean as the guy makes it sound and its structually and mechanically sound like he claims does this seem like a good deal? also how would you tell the difference between an actual Si and an EX with a swapped B16?

VIN number, si's have rear disc brakes.

 

thats a great deal for a 99 si. if the title is clean, then its worth buying. if the title is salvaged then i dunno...its hard to have full coverage on a salvaged car, which is essential in my book.

edit: someone bought it already.

 

Lots of stuff. Front grille in the SI has a plastic mesh, the interior colors are different, the cluster says Si on the SI, rear disc brakes on the Si, Si rims, whatever man.

Yeah, good deal, but it's got a salvage title now, correct? That really kills the resale. If you're not concerned with that, then go for it.

 

Before i got my jetta I had a chance to buy a 98 GSR, but i wouldnt touch it because it had a salvaged title

 

yep salvaged titles do cause a bit of a problem.. hard to get full coverage, which would suck if you didnt have cause if you got into a wreck and it was your fault, youd be stuck with the bill, or if it gets stolen... If youre in an area that civics dont get stolen a lot,then I think a salvaged title would be fine.... You get cheaper insurance I think... Im not sure, get someone elses second opinion.

i guess what happened was it was stolen and the engine/tranny was taken and this guy replaced with a drivetrain out of another Si. I had a 92 MR2 with a salvage title that i sold for full retail after driving it for a year and my frined has a 98 C70 that hes driven for the last 4 yrs and 60k and hasnt had a single problem. salvage title can mean a lot and it can mean nothing. if the car was repaired properly and wasnt a flood car then all it means is now you can have a really nice car and pay a lot less for it. ill go take a look at it and if it seems solid then i think id be foolish not to jump on it. why would salvage title make it harder to insure? i would think ins co's would love to insure them since the loss payout would be a lot less than normal.
