Default blinker problem

I have an 02 Civic with 40K miles. Recently, my blinkers died. The fourways still worked, though. The fuse was bad, so I replaced it. Since then, it's blown two more fuses in 3 days, though it would work for a while in between. What could be the problem, and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Robin

sounds like a open wire somewhere in the directional stick touching a metal causing the short which causes the fuse to blow. since it's a 02' still have the warrenty?

'Fraid not, it ran out at 36,000 miles. What is/Where is the directional stick? What does it look like? I hate to take it to a shop... ah... college kids are poor. And knowing my luck, i'll get there and it'll be working fine.

::grumble:: So says the girl who got a Honda so she wouldn't have to work on cars anymore.

Thanks for the info, though.

directional stick aka turn signal stick, it's what you use when you want to make a left/right turn.

besides you haven't answered my question is the CAR STILL ON WARRENTY? if so just take it to the stealership and get it fix.

No, it's not under warranty. It ran out at 36,000 miles.

first check all the wires that pertain to the turn signal/hazard flasher system to make sure there isn't any loose or frayed wires exposed to some bare metal. Could either be the turn signal directional stick or turn signal relay is bad.
